Door 2 Door Hijacking

I captured a series of pics on 24th June at 7:00 a.m. in my street, on a visit to my home town Guntur to see my parents. It’s a group of Saleswomen dividing and conquering every house in the street and eventually the entire area.

I made a collage of 3 pics into one pic and let me run you through

  • Lady in Orange gear standing in front of my gate
  • Giving me a sample cup of coffee
  • Updating the details of my house number in her Digital tablet


This lady is brand ambassador for Nescafe Sunrise and see how companies are figuring out ways and means to ensure they orbit around you all the time to be the consumer of their products and services.

This lady knocks my door bell, introduces herself and requests me in a very cordial way to try sample coffee from Nescafe and she offers it to me in a paper cup. While I consume she quickly asks for my coordinates and updates in her PDA along with feedback.

A close look at her orange gear, she has coffee sachets, paper cups, flask with hot coffee and a PDA all well tucked. She gives me “6 sample sachets free asking me to try it out for next few days and leaves the place”.

Few interesting things to note here:
  • Date of coordinated door 2 door knocking is 24th June @ 7:00 a.m. – It’s a Sunday when the entire family will be together and 7:00 a.m. is either tea time/coffee time in every house-I call it as disruptive strategy to break into tea/coffee time.
  • June 24th — 6 days prior to month end, they started conditioning the market as first week of coming month is grocery time- I call this marinating the customer.
  • Dating with the Consumer: They ensured every house had their coffee sample by moving as close as possible with the target markets, while their competitors were fast asleep

Few Takeaways:
You may be an employer or an employee. Are you orbiting around your targets markets and around your customers where your competition becomes irrelevant? Are you emotionally hijacking your customers to be your consumers?

As I always say, markets are too huge and business will never be a problem. It’s your ability on how well you can connect with market is the key. Discipline yourself if required before your competitor disciplines you.
