I used to walk through the sugar cane fields near my house in the night, desperate for a snake bite. Not once but for months. All for a snake bite.
How come I never walked into the jaws of death when I wanted to. How come God can be so cold to me?
When life seems unfair to me, I felt death is my best friend.
These were the thoughts of Sowmya in the picture when she was in her 7th standard. She was born and brought up in a remote village and used to do well in studies, play well during sports time and she was like a free bird.
But she never realized during her school days that, she was fast losing her eye sight and by the time she reached 7th standard she was 50% blind. She had lot of difficulties to read and write and slowly she lost her speed in everything. Life came to a standstill and became dark. That’s when she used to walk through the sugar cane fields desperate for a snake bite, craving for her death.
Her peculiar medical condition is so rare, advancements and progress made in medical sciences had to be a mute spectator. Today she is 83% blind and works as Sr.Manager HR – Global Inclusion, Diversity and Corporate Citizenship – APAC in a Top Notch Global Company Headquartered out of Boston which is into Financial Sector.
Please note that she was not born blind and She saw the world and the Creations of the Creator. Today she lives in a world of darkness as a Progressive, Victorious Women winning each and every day, while the entire darkness in the world is zeroing on her with each passing day.
While a mere power cut for 5 minutes makes us freeze not sure how to take a step in our own house, she battles it every second and her Conqueror’s Spirit makes the odds of life even.
We live in a world of few jobs with oversubscriptions, she establishes her territory with “Grit”. I was totally blinded by her “Ferocity” to keep advancing in life. She has Zero complaints about life.
I left that place with a curse on self for not able to have a decimal of her Conquer’s Spirit and Attitude towards life.
I leave it to readers to do a Self-Introspection and it is time to count our blessings and march forward.
Grow Every Day!!
